Two zones, big fall-line
Furano's ski area splits into two connected zones — the Furano Zone and the Kitanomine Zone — linked near the top. A ropeway and gondola whisk you up quickly, and the mountain's signature is long, steep, perfectly groomed fall-line runs that let you carve top to bottom without a flat spot.
It's a superb mountain for intermediates and strong groomer skiers, with mellow, well-lit beginner terrain near the bases and enough pitch to keep advanced skiers grinning on a firm morning.
The driest snow in Japan
Being inland and high-latitude, Furano's snow falls colder and drier than the coastal resorts — the lightest, most weightless powder you'll find. There's less lift-served tree terrain than Niseko, but the trade-off is space, quiet and quality. For deeper off-piste, a guide will take you to the goods.
