Cookie Policy

Effective · Version 0.1 (draft)

SkiJapow uses very little tracking. Most of what we store lives in your own browser to keep your trip-in-progress and preferences.

Prototype notice. SkiJapow is currently a product prototype using mock data with no real payments. This document is a working draft provided for review — it has not yet been reviewed by qualified legal counsel and is not a binding agreement. Company details and contact addresses below are placeholders.

1. Cookies and browser storage

“Cookies” are small files a site stores in your browser. Modern sites also use local storage and session storage, which work similarly. SkiJapow relies mainly on browser storage rather than tracking cookies.

Today, the prototype does not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. If that ever changes, we will ask for your consent first and update this policy.

2. What we use

Your itinerary (local storage)Keeps the trip you are building so it survives a page refresh and is there when you come back. Stays in your browser until you clear it.
Booking snapshot (session storage)Holds the details of a booking you just made so the confirmation page can display them. Cleared when you close the tab.
Preferences (local storage)Small settings such as your preferred display currency.
Essential/technicalAnything strictly needed to load the site securely and keep it working (for example basic session and security cookies set by our hosting or payment providers during checkout).

3. Categories

  • Strictly necessary — required for the site and checkout to function. These cannot be switched off through the site.
  • Functional — remember your itinerary and preferences to improve your experience.
  • Analytics — if enabled in future, only aggregate, privacy-respecting measurement, and only with your consent where required.
  • Advertising — not used.

4. Third-party providers

During checkout, our payment processor may set its own cookies to process the payment securely and prevent fraud. These are governed by that provider’s own privacy and cookie policies. See our Privacy Policy for who we work with.

5. How to control cookies and storage

  • Your browser lets you view, block and delete cookies and clear local/session storage in its privacy settings.
  • Clearing storage will remove any trip you were building and any saved preferences.
  • Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the site — especially checkout — from working.
